The ideal candidate will possess basic construction skills and general labor skills. The cable crew laborer assists with multiple aspects of cable installation which includes pathway construction, rough‑in, routing, telecommunication room build‑out, cable terminations, labeling, and grounding. The successful candidate will be capable of performing small jobs unassisted, be organized, and know how to effectively communicate with others while keeping a positive attitude. Must be able to exercise independent judgment as to work methods, tools, and equipment required. This position may be required to perform a variety of other duties assigned in addition to those listed below. Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities General Labor: perform routine labor tasks such as potholing, setting up equipment, placing conduit/duct/cable/vaults/pedestals; support trench digging and closing; pull and route wire and cable. Work Completion: perform and complete assigned tasks while ensuring the quality and quantity of your work; always maintaining high standards. Safety Compliance: demonstrate a working knowledge of construction and safety measures; understand, follow, and promote safety protocols and procedures at all times. Coordination and Communication: coordinate and communicate with supervisors, office staff, and crews to ensure efficient task completion and adherence to project timelines. Security: maintain satisfactory compliance with customers’ security requirements. Site Preparation and Cleanup: prepare construction sites by removing obstacles and hazards, and cleaning up after tasks are completed; assemble and break down temporary structures such as barricades. Material Handling: load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment; transport materials to the appropriate locations on the site as directed by Foreman. Operating Tools/Equipment: use hand and power tools to perform various tasks; operate machinery such as telehandlers, skid steers, excavators, and other equipment as approved by Foreman or Manager. Assisting Crew and Foreman: help crew and Foreman with installation activities. General Maintenance: perform general maintenance and cleaning tasks to keep the work site and equipment organized, tidy, and safe; maintain and fuel equipment, reporting any issues or maintenance required. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Company policies, procedures, products, and services. Knowledge and competency with each equipment type. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, such as climbing ladders and stairs; walking, kneeling, standing, squatting, twisting, and bending for long periods of time. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis. Experience with hand and power tools. Ability to clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Ability to load and unload building material, tools, and equipment. Work independently and be a team player within the department and the organization. High degree of focus and attention to detail/strong organizational skills. Communicate effectively with co‑workers and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner. Work completely and accurately under time constraints and deadlines. Work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize multiple work assignments. Help promote a safe working environment by understanding and following safety procedures. Education And Experience High School or Equivalent. Valid Driver's License and Clean Driving Record Required. Must be able to pass an employment drug screening test. Must be able to pass a background check.
