General Cleaner role at Macys Del Norte Laredo, BlueChip Pros. PRIMARY PURPOSE To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them clean, sanitary and orderly, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment. Responsibilities High dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning in a counterclockwise direction around the room, high dust surfaces above shoulder height, such as lights, curtain tips, vents and ledges. Sanitizing / spot cleaning using a germicidal solution, working counterclockwise around the room, sanitizing surfaces below shoulder height, removing fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls, spot cleaning windows. Bathroom cleaning: wipe down sinks above and below, toilet seat and outside of bowl, clean inside with a Johnnie mop and germicidal solution, attend to rim, clean soap and paper dispensers daily, refill as needed. Empty trash cans: remove liner if liquid inside, wipe trash can, place clean liner. Floor dusting or vacuuming using a treated dust mophead, start at back of room with "S" stroke, dust under furniture and in restroom, dispose dust; when vacuuming start at back and work toward door, get under chairs. Grounds care: clean outside areas, empty and clean ash urns and trash cans, police sidewalks, flower beds, curb line for trash and cigarette butts, spot clean spills, remove gum, wipe benches and vending machines, clean window ledges. Public common areas: dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass several times a day, clean planters, high dusting of window areas at least twice a week. Food court: clean tables and chairs, spot clean spills, empty trash, remove dirty trays and wash them with tray power washer, stack clean trays, police outside eating areas. Floor sanitizing: start at back using germicidal solution, mop under furniture and behind doors. Inspection: after completing the room, review cleaning steps, check furniture placement, correct as needed. Hall lobby stairs water fountains etc: wall spotting and high dusting done daily. Customer relations: knock lightly on door before entering if occupied, be friendly and cheerful, answer questions courteously, report broken items, work quietly, maintain clean personal appearance. Other duties: perform duties assigned by supervisor or account manager (e.g., floor stripping, waxing, carpet extraction, auto scrub, buffing). Qualifications Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work, methods, materials, equipment, safe work practices, use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals per MSDS. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, communicate with co‑workers and supervisors, operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment, interpret written instructions and warning labels. Physical capacity to walk, stand, sit for extended periods, lift/carry 1-30 lbs, push/pull, climb stairs and ladders, bend, twist, kneel, reach, overhead reaching throughout shift, maintain depth perception and hand-eye coordination. #J-18808-Ljbffr BlueChip Pros
