Position Type: Custodial & Maintenance/ Locksmith Date Posted: 7/28/2025 Location: Information Technology Date Available: As soon as possible Closing Date: '); '08/04/2025 Performs work on maintenance and capital outlay projects as assigned. Sets up key schedules in accordance with Granite School District master key system. Installs and repairs locks, doorknobs, handles, and panic hardware. Cuts keys by code and creates duplicates as appropriate. Creates and maintains a safe, clean, and neat work environment. Trains apprentices as directed by the Foreman and Assistant Foreman. Maintains appropriate quantities of parts, tools, and materials. Must complete and file required documentation and paperwork, which includes, but is not limited to, work orders, invoices, requisitions…etc. Strictly follows Granite School District procurement policies and procedures, when making purchases. Responds to emergency calls by assuring prompt resolution of problems. Attends and provides input to district locks and door hardware standards and needs in school design and planning meetings. Responsible for planning work as assigned and assuring a high quality of the finished product. Other duties as assigned Possess working knowledge of hand, and power tools related to the pertinent trade. Possess strong oral and written communication skills. Possess strong computer and educational technology skills. Ability to work independently with little direct supervision. Ability to work as part of a team. Able to accept responsibility and be self-motivated. Knowledge of current techniques and changing developments in the relevant field. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Requires a current and valid driver’s license. Requires a minimum of three(3) years of successful experience as a qualified locksmith. Consults with administrators, teachers, co-workers, and patrons to assist in the timely completion of projects. Assists in planning work projects. Assures that each assignment has sufficient tools, materials, and supplies. Determines repairs and replacements of equipment as needed. Prioritizes work for specific jobs assigned. May determine that the use of specific equipment is a danger to the user and remove the equipment or neutralize it in place. Plans and initiates project activities with minimum supervision. Interacts and collaborates with employees, board members, patrons, vendors, administrators, and secretaries in schools. Hires, coordinates, and oversee contract service vendors and material vendors needed to complete work projects. Not applicable Some district emergencies may require additional irregular hours. May be subject to high locations, awkward positions, heat, noise, dirt, chemicals, confined spaces, and cold. Incumbent may have occasional stress from emergencies and in meeting project deadlines. Interruptions may occur while performing work requiring accuracy and concentration. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel objects and must occasionally climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
